Cynthia Prince-Fox
Chief Investment Officer

Cynthia Prince-Fox, born in 1959, entered the investment management business in 1983, when she joined Austin, Calvert & Flavin, Inc.’s parent company, Waddell & Reed in Kansas City. In May of 2000, Ms. Prince-Fox joined Austin, Calvert & Flavin, Inc. in San Antonio, acting as liaison to help integrate the investment process between the two firms. Effective January of 2002, she was appointed Co-Chief Investment Officer and worked very closely with Harry Flavin, Co-Chief Investment Officer. Ms. Prince-Fox was appointed Chief Investment Officer of Austin Calvert & Flavin, Inc. in February of 2006.

During her tenure with Waddell & Reed, Ms. Prince-Fox held numerous positions of increased responsibility. Prior positions included Equity Investment Analyst, and Assistant Portfolio Manager. She is currently a Portfolio Manager of three Waddell & Reed mutual funds. These funds comprise approximately $1 billion in market value. Ms. Prince-Fox manages individual separate accounts as well.

Ms. Prince-Fox graduated in 1982 from St. Mary’s University in San Antonio, Texas with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in Finance. She earned her Master of Business Administration degree with an emphasis in finance from Rockhurst College in 1989.

Ms. Prince-Fox is a CFA Institute member and a member of the Kansas City Society of Financial Analysts.

Ms. Prince-Fox is currently serving on the Bill Greehey School of Business Advisory Council of Executives at St. Mary's University. She has served on the board of San Antonio Camerata.

Sarah Calvert Doerr
Chief Executive Officer

Sarah Calvert Doerr, Chief Executive Officer and Chief Compliance Officer Sarah Calvert Doerr, born in 1962, has been with Austin, Calvert & Flavin, Inc. since 1985. In January 2002, she was named its Chief Operating Officer, and in October 2004 its Chief Compliance Officer. Ms. Doerr was appointed Chief Executive Officer in June 2005.

Ms. Doerr has been involved with the trading operation during most of her tenure at Austin, Calvert & Flavin, Inc., and was its head trader for a number of years prior to being named Chief Operating Officer. In addition to community and business development, she manages the day-to-day operations of the firm, and continues to work closely with the Chief Investment Officer in implementing the investment ideas into the individual portfolios.

Ms. Doerr graduated from Philips Exeter Academy where she has served as a Class Agent for the Annual Giving Fund since 2000. She attended George Washington University where she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science.

Ms. Doerr is a CFA Institute member and a member of the San Antonio Society of Financial Analysts. She is also a member of the American Association of Investment Advisors. She serves as a member of the United Way Board of Trustees and on the Board of Directors for the San Antonio Botanical Society and Library Foundation.

Claude K. Koontz, CFA
President

Claude K. KoontzCFA, born in 1964, joined Austin, Calvert & Flavin Inc. in 2005 as a Client Relationship Manager and was promoted to President in February 2007.

Mr. Koontz, who began his career in 1987 at Frost Bank in San Antonio, most recently managed the San Antonio office of Houston-based Chilton Capital Management from 2003 until 2005. Prior to 2003, he spent seven years with the JP Morgan Private Bank as a Vice President and Portfolio Manager in Houston and in San Antonio. His responsibilities included managing the firm’s private bank clients in San Antonio, Austin and Mexico. In addition to managing client equity and fixed income portfolios, Mr. Koontz was responsible for developing asset allocation and risk control strategies for bank clients. Mr. Koontz managed private client accounts for Hibernia National Bank in New Orleans from 1993 to 1995.

Mr. Koontz graduated from The University of Texas with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics. He earned his Master of Business Administration degree from Tulane University with a concentration in finance and accounting. Mr. Koontz is a member of the CFA Institute and the San Antonio Society of Financial Analysts.  He holds the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation. He is a Board member of St. Luke’s Episcopal School and President of the Board of Governors of St. Peter – St. Joseph Children’s Home in San Antonio.

Edwin C. Kreusel, Jr., CFA
Director of Fixed Income

Edwin C. Kreusel, Jr., CFA, born in 1965, joined Austin, Calvert & Flavin, Inc. in April 2005 as its Director of Fixed Income. He manages both the taxable and non-taxable fixed income portfolios and develops fixed income strategy in collaboration with the investment team.

Mr. Kreusel began his career in 1989 as a commercial real estate appraiser, where he formulated financial analyses and valuations of income producing properties. In 1996, he joined USAA Investment Management Company where he was a broker and he developed and managed the firm’s first retail bond desk. He also served as a financial business analyst and a senior analyst for the mortgage-banking portfolio at USAA. In 2002, he joined Clear Channel Communications (NYSE:CCU) as Treasury Manager where he was responsible for debt compliance, currency trading, debt analysis and minimizing cost of capital.

Mr. Kreusel has also held positions as Director of Fixed Income for South Texas Money Management, LTD, and Vice President of Fixed Income Research and Analytics at Fixed Income Securities (FIS) where he managed investment grade and distressed debt separate accounts.  While at FIS, he was responsible for creating approximately $900 million in equity and fixed income based unit investment trusts and he led a team of ten analysts that were responsible for providing research to a sales force of 75 brokers and advisors. 

Mr. Kreusel graduated from The University of Texas at San Antonio with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in Finance in 1989 and received his Master of Business Administration degree from St. Mary’s University in 1998. He holds many different licenses, including his Series 87, Registered Research Analyst and Series 66 and The Uniform Combined State Law Examination.

Mr. Kreusel is a member of the CFA Institute and the San Antonio Society of Financial Analysts. He is also a Licensed International Financial Analyst (LIFA) charterholder and member of the International Research Association. In addition, he is an Adjunct Instructor of Graduate Corporate Finance at the University of the Incarnate Word.

Julie J. Lewis, CPA
Chief Financial Officer

Julie J. Lewis, born in 1958, has been with Austin, Calvert & Flavin, Inc. since 1989. In January of 1996, she was named Chief Financial Officer. Ms. Lewis entered the investment business in 1984 working for Daniel Breen & Company in Houston as Controller where she was responsible for implementing financial accounting systems and client accounting and performance reporting systems. She also served as an internal auditor for Anta Corporation.

Ms. Lewis graduated from Oklahoma State University in 1980 with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration degree with a concentration in accounting and finance.

Ms. Lewis is a Certified Public Accountant and a member of the San Antonio Chapter of the Texas Society of CPAs. She currently serves as Treasurer of the San Antonio Chapter of the Executive Women's Golf Association and is a member of the Oklahoma State University and Pi Beta Phi alumnae associations.

Angela R. Vatankha
Portfolio Assistant

Angela R. Vatankha, born in 1969, began her investment career in 1991 at Austin, Calvert & Flavin, Inc. Today, she works closely with the CIO and analysts with research and stock analysis. During her time at Austin, Calvert & Flavin, Inc. she has had a variety of responsibilities including, quantitative and economic research, special projects and financial analysis support for the investment team, and preparing analytical data and graphics for marketing and client presentations.

Ms. Vatankha graduated from The University of Texas at San Antonio with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in Finance. She completed her Master of Business Administration degree with an emphasis in finance from St. Mary’s University and received the Distinguished Graduate Award for Academic Excellence.

Ms. Vatankha is a member of the San Antonio Society of Financial Analysts and the Beta Gamma Sigma National Business School Honor Society.

Amaury de Barros Conti
Head Trader

Amaury de Barros Conti, born in 1970, joined Austin, Calvert & Flavin, Inc. in 2004 as the firm’s Head Trader. Mr. Conti brings over five years of institutional trading experience from a San Antonio based mutual fund company. Prior to that he was a trading assistant with Banque National de Paris in New York City.

Mr. Conti received his undergraduate degree in Aviation Technology/Management from the Florida Institute of Technology and his Master of Business Administration degree in Financial Management from St. Mary’s University in San Antonio, Texas. Mr. Conti holds a Series 7 license and is an Affiliate of the Market Technicians Association. He is originally from Belgium.

Jane L. Lorenz
Head of Reconciliation

Jane L. Lorenz has been with Austin, Calvert & Flavin, Inc. since 1982 as Head of Reconciliation. Her responsibilities include assisting clients with requests, daily reconciliation and proxy voting. Ms. Lorenz is the primary liaison between the custodians and the portfolio management system. Prior to joining Austin, Calvert & Flavin, Inc., Ms. Lorenz worked as a civil service employee at the Department of the United States Air Force Headquarters in Europe preparing NATO and CENTO documents.

Suzy L. Lopez
Reconciliation Assistant

Suzy L. Lopez has been with Austin, Calvert & Flavin, Inc. since 1989 as a Reconciliation Assistant. Her primary responsibilities include daily account reconciliation, quarterly mailings and processing client requests. Before joining Austin, Calvert & Flavin, Inc. Ms. Lopez worked for Groos Bank, N.A. for 6 years. While at Groos Bank, Ms. Lopez worked as the Loan Secretary, where her primary responsibilities included assisting the Loan Officer and clients to process loans.

Ms. Lopez graduated from Bee County College in 1983 with an Associates degree in Applied Science.

Margie Martinez
Reconciliation Assistant

Margie Martinez joined Austin, Calvert & Flavin, Inc. in 2000 as a reconciliation associate. Her responsibilities include daily account reconciliation, client filing and other administrative duties. Ms. Martinez brings to us over 15 years of banking experience. Before joining Austin, Calvert & Flavin, Inc. she worked with Wells Fargo Bank where she maintained the banks financial statements and supervised the Reconciliation and Statement Rendering Departments. Prior to this Ms. Martinez worked with Bank One in the Reconciliation Department.

Ms. Martinez received an Accounting and Bookkeeping Certificate from Durham College of San Antonio.

David H. Coull
Information Services Manager

David H. Coull joined the team at Austin, Calvert & Flavin, Inc. (ACF) in 2001 as the Information Services Manager. David oversees all the aspects of ACF technology from desktop to server and has over 20 years of experience. He is part of the Compliance Team making sure the disaster recovery plan, along with other technology compliance are up to date. David also works with the Marketing Team, working on graphic designs, the ACF web site, as well as other special projects.

Prior to joining Austin, Calvert & Flavin, Inc., David worked for Texas Lutheran University (TLU) where he managed Information Service for both the Student and Academia. During his time at TLU, David implemented the first wireless network throughout the campus into the dormitories. In addition to the wireless project, David was on the team for implementing an AV Seminar room.

David has two children and has lived in the San Antonio area all his life. He was President of the PTC at his children’s school and also on the school board. He uses his technology skills to help the school stay up to date in the technology area. David is currently working on his MCSA for Server 2003.

Lynnette R. Kline
Office Manager
Executive Assistant

Lynnette Kline has been with Austin, Calvert & Flavin, Inc. since 1996 as Executive Assistant to Jonathan C. Calvert. Today, Ms. Kline’s primary role is Office Manager. In addition to assisting with the day-to-day management of the office she also provides administrative support to the CIO, Cynthia Prince-Fox and the CEO, Sarah Calvert Doerr. Ms. Kline came to Austin, Calvert & Flavin, Inc. with 17 years in trust banking. Before joining Austin, Calvert & Flavin, Inc. she worked for the Alamo National Bank Trust Department (now part of J.P. Morgan Chase), where she spent 14 years as the assistant to the CIO. She was also the securities trader, and was promoted to Trust Officer, and to Trust and Estate Portfolio Manager, Junior. Ms. Kline began her career in 1979 with the National Bank of Commerce, in Trust Operations.

Barbara Beatty
Receptionist

Barbara Beatty joined Austin, Calvert & Flavin, Inc. in 1999. Today her primary responsibility is acting as Austin, Calvert & Flavin’s receptionist. Mrs. Beatty assists with various office administrative duties such as coordinating conference calls, meetings and other special projects. Prior to joining Austin, Calvert & Flavin, Inc. Mrs. Beatty worked for the Builder’s Square Corporate Office in the Accounts Receivable and Payable department. Her responsibilities while at Builder’s Square included expenses, daily reporting, billing and other projects.

Ms. Beatty serves as the Choir Coordinator and Music Librarian at Village Parkway Baptist Church.

Teri M. Grubb
Client Services Associate

Teri M. Grubb, born in 1973, returned to Austin, Calvert & Flavin, Inc. in September of 2005 as Client Services Associate. Ms. Grubb was employed at ACF from 1995 to 2004, serving primarily on the trading desk, where her latest role was Senior Trader. Today, she continues to be involved with trading working with Head Trader, Amaury de Barros Conti. Ms. Grubb’s primary responsibility is working with the Marketing Department. Her responsibilities include maintaining 3rd party databases, completing RFP’s, and setting up new accounts. In 2007, Ms. Grubb was named Compliance Officer and is responsible for assisting the CCO, Sarah Calvert Doerr with the firm’s compliance program.

Prior to rejoining Austin, Calvert & Flavin, Inc., she served as Vice President at Fixed Income Securities, L.P. (FIS) from April 2004 to August 2005. While at FIS, she worked with the CEO and COO in the launch of Advisor’s Asset Management, a managed money division of FIS. Ms. Grubb also worked with the portfolio management team, the compliance department, and the advisor sales representatives to help develop the managed money business. Additionally, at FIS, she worked directly with the COO on overall corporate operations and management strategy.

Ms. Grubb is currently pursuing her B.A. in Psychology of Organizations and Development with a minor in Marketing from the University of the Incarnate Word in San Antonio, Texas. Ms. Grubb is a volunteer for the Children’s Shelter of San Antonio and Fisher House.

Suzanne Smith

Suzanne Smith joined Austin, Calvert & Flavin, Inc. in 2000 as an assistant for the client services and marketing department. Her responsibilities include coordinating and preparing client and prospective client meetings as well as providing administrative assistance to the marketing and client services department. Prior to joining Austin, Calvert & Flavin, Inc. Ms. Smith worked as the Executive Assistant to the Vice President of the Clinical Division of the Psychological Corporation.

Ms. Smith graduated from International Fine Arts College in 1978 with an Associates degree in Fashion Merchandising.
