Edward H. Austin, Jr.

Edward H. Austin Jr., born in 1941, began his investment career in 1966 as a petroleum industry research analyst with a New York City investment-banking firm. In 1969, he assumed responsibilities as a portfolio manager with a mutual fund group with over $200 million in assets. During the period 1973 through 1978, Mr. Austin was a portfolio manager with a major regional bank and also an institutional registered representative. He joined Midland Investment Company in 1979 to manage a $75 million portfolio. This led to the formation of an independent investment advisory firm in January 1981, now known as Austin, Calvert & Flavin, Inc.

Mr. Austin is a Tulane University graduate with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree. He attended The University of Texas and the New York University Graduate Schools of Business. He served in the United States Navy as a Lieutenant, Junior Grade.

Mr. Austin is a former director of Kinder Morgan, Inc. and serves on the board of several non-profit organizations.

Jonathan C. Calvert

Jonathan C. Calvert, born in 1930, entered the investment business in 1955.  He spent four years with a major investment-banking firm in their New York and Chicago offices. In 1960, he returned to Texas where he served for six years as a partner in several Texas-based investment firms. His firm merged with two other established firms in 1966 to form Rotan Mosle, Inc.  For the next 16 years, he was associated with Rotan Mosle, Inc. as a vice president, director and branch office manager. In 1982, Mr. Calvert joined Mr. Edward H. Austin, Jr. as a principal in what is now known as Austin, Calvert & Flavin, Inc.

Mr. Calvert graduated cum laude from Princeton University with a Bachelor of Arts degree. He attended both the New York University Graduate Business School and the University of Chicago. Mr. Calvert served on the Board of Governors of the National Association of Securities Dealers from 1970 to 1972, during which time he was chairman of both the Oil and Gas Committee and the Real Estate Committee. Prior to entering the investment business, he served as an officer in the United States Marine Corps.

Mr. Calvert is a trustee of the McNay Art Museum. He formerly served as President of the Board of Saint Mary’s Hall and the Harry Jersig Speech and Hearing Center, and he has been a director of the Children’s Hospital Foundation and a member of the Board of Visitors of The University of Texas M.D. Anderson Cancer Center. Mr. Calvert also served on the board of the Southwest Outward Bound School.

Harry M. Flavin, CFA

Harry M. Flavin, born in 1943, joined Austin, Calvert & Flavin, Inc. in 1988 where he served as Chief Investment Officer until October of 2004. Mr. Flavin retired from Austin, Calvert & Flavin, Inc. in February of 2006. Mr. Flavin entered the investment business in 1969 as an analyst at Rotan Mosle, Inc. He helped build that firm's research department to a point where it enjoyed national prominence and served as its director. In 1979, he joined Merrill Lynch and was voted the number one analyst among over eighty industry analysts for Merrill Lynch Research. He was also named as one of the top cyclical analysts in the country according to Greenwich Research Associates and was named to Institutional Investor Magazine's All-American Research Team for six years. In 1983, he left Merrill Lynch to join a prominent Houston investment management firm where his principal activity was equity and fixed income, investment strategy and stock selection. At the time of his departure, he had responsibility for portfolios aggregating $1.3 billion.

Mr. Flavin received his undergraduate degree in chemical engineering from The University of Texas and his Masters of Business Administration degree from the Wharton School of Finance at the University of Pennsylvania. He is a CFA Institute member, a member of the San Antonio Society of Financial Analysts, and is past president of the Houston Society of Financial Analysts. Mr. Flavin is currently a trustee of Our Lady of the Lake University, serves on the Board of Wyoming Catholic College, and a member of Legatus. He has served on the board of Habitat for Humanity of San Antonio and has been involved with many other community organizations.
